The investigation into the crash of an aircraft on December 24, 2025 carrying a Libyan delegation, which went down near Haymana in Ankara, is ongoing. Turkish authorities briefly detained and interrogated a flight attendant who is a citizen of the Republic of Cyprus, before later releasing her and allowing her to leave the country.

According to information reported by the Turkish news website T24, the flight attendant was a member of the crew that had previously flown the aircraft to Turkey. She was taken in from the hotel where she was staying following initiatives by Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and on the order of the Ankara Prosecutor’s Office. She was transferred to the Ankara Security Directorate, where she was questioned by the Counterterrorism Unit.

Sources indicate that during the initial stage of the interrogation no “tangible” evidence emerged against her. While authorities examined her contacts and possible connections, the process was carried out with heightened discretion due to her status as a Cypriot citizen. High-ranking sources of the Republic of Cyprus confirmed that Nicosia had been aware of the detention from the outset.

Following the questioning, the flight attendant was released and has since departed Turkey.

The crash claimed the lives of the commander of the Libyan army, Mohammed Ali Al-Haddad, along with members of his entourage. The aircraft reportedly lost communication shortly after takeoff, while still within Ankara airspace.

The investigation is being conducted jointly by the judiciary, the police, and intelligence services. Turkey’s Ministry of National Defense has announced that the aircraft’s black box will be examined in the United Kingdom. At the same time, questions remain unanswered regarding the use of a private aircraft by the Libyan delegation and reported changes to the flight crew, with no official clarifications having been made public so far.
