An explosion caused by a bomb damaged a well-known reception venue in the Nicosia district early Monday, prompting an ongoing police investigation.
Authorities said the blast occurred at around 3:20 a.m., when an explosive device was detonated outside the premises. The explosion caused significant damage to the building’s glass front facade, though no injuries were reported.
Police officers rushed to the scene shortly after the incident, accompanied by members of the bomb disposal unit, who carried out initial examinations of the area.
According to preliminary findings, investigators confirmed the explosion was caused by a bomb that had been deliberately placed and triggered at the site.
The area was cordoned off overnight to allow forensic teams to secure evidence, with examinations continuing later Monday morning.
The Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken over the case and is working to determine the circumstances behind the attack, including possible motives and those responsible.
Police have not yet said whether the venue had previously received threats or whether the incident is linked to other recent cases, but investigations remain ongoing.
