It's Monday. That means back to the grind, but there’s a silver lining to get us through the emails: we’ve got a mid-week break for Greek Independence Day this Wednesday. Consider today and tomorrow the final push before a well-deserved day off.
As for the weather, it seems the low-pressure system hasn't gotten the memo that it's time to move on. While the morning might start with only a few stray clouds, the sky is scheduled to thicken up by the afternoon, bringing local showers and the potential for isolated thunderstorms to most districts. Temperatures are staying consistent at 19°C inland and along the coast, just a notch below what we’d usually expect for late March. If you’re heading up to the peaks, it’s a much crisper 6°C, with 28 cm of snow already sitting at Chionistra.
Tonight offers a brief pause. The sky clears up significantly, though the western coast might still see a rogue shower before dawn. The winds will drop to a whisper-light 3 Beaufort, making for a quiet, chilly night.
However, don't get too comfortable with the clear skies. The forecast for the rest of the week (holiday included!) is looking remarkably consistent:
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will all follow a similar pattern: partly cloudy mornings followed by afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Hail remains a distinct possibility during any thunderstorms that pop up over the next three days.
For the snow enthusiasts, the white stuff is sticking around. With more sleet and snow expected on the highest peaks, the mountain scenery should stay properly wintry for the holiday.
The bottom line: Temperatures aren't going anywhere. We’re staying in this slightly-below-average groove until at least Friday. Keep the rain gear handy, and even if your Wednesday holiday plans involve being outdoors, maybe have a plan b ready for the afternoon.
