Cyprus state services are closely monitoring developments following a warning of an imminent cyberattack targeting the country's critical infrastructure, although no attack has occurred yet, according to well-informed sources.

"We are alert to any developments. State agencies are closely monitoring the situation. There is no attack," a government source told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).

The warning came from cybersecurity firm Odyssey, which reported that a hacker group known as LulzSec Black has publicly declared plans to target Cyprus. The group cited Cyprus' relationship with Israel as a possible motivation for the attack. According to the warning, the planned cyberattack is scheduled for October 17, 2024.

Odyssey's report also noted that the Moroccan Soldiers hacker group has expressed support for LulzSec Black, further heightening concerns. The hackers are believed to be targeting key sectors, including government, financial, and critical infrastructure systems, potentially leading to service disruptions, data breaches, or system intrusions.

Authorities remain vigilant and prepared, ensuring continuous monitoring of the situation to protect vital services from any potential threats.
