Cyprus has announced a commitment of at least €850,000 in humanitarian assistance for Sudan and neighbouring countries in 2026, following its participation in the Third International Sudan Conference in Berlin.
The pledge, made by the Cyprus Ministry of Foreign Affairs, forms part of the country’s ongoing support for populations affected by conflict and displacement in the region. The funding will be delivered through CyprusAid and will focus on assisting vulnerable groups, including women and children.
The financial support will be directed not only to Sudan but also to several countries across Africa facing related humanitarian pressures. These include South Sudan, Mauritania, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, Eritrea, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Cameroon and Egypt.
Cyprus plans to channel the assistance through established international organisations such as UNICEF, UNHCR and UNOCHA, with the aim of ensuring effective delivery to those in need.
In its statement, the Foreign Ministry said Africa remains a key priority for CyprusAid, reflecting the country’s continued engagement in humanitarian efforts through international cooperation.
The conference in Berlin brought together governments and organisations seeking to respond to the ongoing crisis in Sudan, which has led to large-scale displacement and placed pressure on neighbouring states. Cyprus’s contribution adds to international efforts to provide relief and support stability in the region.
