A professional-looking website, a convincing sales pitch, and promises of quick returns can make an online investment platform appear legitimate. But a polished homepage does not necessarily mean the company behind it is licensed to handle your money.
The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission has warned investors that nine websites are not operated by companies authorized to provide investment services in Cyprus.
The websites named by CySEC are
- m4-platform.com and m4-markets-latam.vercel.app
- waltonmarketltd.com
- investiumlimited.com
- evercrest.capital
- gofx.com
- tazerpro.com
- quantacfd.com
- cypriantrustbank.com
- omnixmarkets.com
CySEC’s announcement does not, by itself, declare that the websites are fraudulent. It does mean, however, that the entities behind them have not received the regulator’s authorization to provide investment services or carry out investment activities under Cyprus law.
That distinction matters. Investors dealing with an unlicensed platform may not benefit from the safeguards, oversight, or complaint procedures that apply to regulated investment companies.
CySEC is urging the public to check its official website before opening an account, transferring money, or providing personal and banking information to any investment company.
The simplest rule is also the safest: if a platform says it is licensed in Cyprus, do not take its word for it. Search CySEC’s official register first. A check that takes a few minutes could prevent a much longer and more expensive attempt to recover lost money.
