Cyprus on Monday achieved two victories on the first day of the 19th Games of the Small States of Europe, held in Malta.
The first victory came from the tennis field, where the Cypriot duo Klio Maria Ioannou and Maria Constantinou defeated the Icelandic team - Sofia Jonasdottir and Anna Gronholm – in Women’s Doubles with 2-0 (6-4, 6-1 in sets).
Based on the information provided by the organizing country so far, Cyprus with today's result, has already secured the bronze medal.
The second victory was in Squash, where Cyprus, with Vaso Karasavva, won the match against the athlete from Monaco in the women's category and advanced to the semi-finals.
In Men's Squash, despite playing very well in the singles knockout matches, the Cypriot athletes failed to achieve victory.
