The Fire Service reported a sharp rise in incidents over a five-day period, with more than 120 calls linked to traditional bonfires.
From 6:00 a.m. on April 9 to 6:00 a.m. on April 14, emergency crews responded to 299 calls for assistance. Of these, 226 involved fires, while 61 were classified as special services and 12 turned out to be false alarms.
Bonfires accounted for 121 of the fire-related incidents recorded during this time.
In the latest 24-hour period, from April 13 to April 14, the Fire Service handled 37 calls. These included 27 fire cases, 8 special service requests, and 2 false alarms.
