Greek Police announced Tuesday the dismantling of an international drug trafficking network that smuggled large quantities of drugs by sea using yachts.

The Hellenic Police reported that the organization imported drugs from Western Europe into Greece and then transshipped them to Israel. A joint operation by Greek and Israeli authorities, conducted from Monday, August 12, through the early hours of Tuesday, led to the seizure of more than 130 kilograms of drugs in Volos.

Authorities believe the criminal organization has made over 2.5 million euros from their activities so far.

Eight individuals were arrested in connection with the operation, including three Israeli nationals, four Ukrainians, and one Ethiopian. They have been brought before the relevant prosecution authority, and investigations are continuing to locate and apprehend additional members of the network.

The 44-year-old alleged leader coordinated and planned the operations, recruited members, and oversaw the procurement and transportation of drugs. Three other members, aged 34, 35, and 39, were responsible for receiving drugs in Greece and arranging their shipment to Israel. Four additional members, aged 37, 38, 38, and 39, handled the importation of drugs from abroad via Bulgaria, concealing them in caravans.

The police operation uncovered significant quantities of drugs, including 53 kilograms of MDMA, 50 kilograms of ketamine, and seven kilograms of cannabis. Other seized items included 2,450 euros, 3,460 Israeli shekels, a vehicle, two caravans, 13 mobile phones, and 14 canisters.
