Cyprus Customs officials have seized more than 1,300 counterfeit items during a coordinated nationwide operation targeting fake branded toys and accessories.
According to an announcement from the Department of Customs, the raid took place on July 8 and involved checks at eight stores belonging to two companies across the island. Officers confiscated 1,325 fake products, including toys, keychains, and other accessories, that violated the intellectual property rights of the popular “Labubu” brand.
The authorities are urging the public to be cautious when buying imitation products, especially children’s toys. “These items are not only of poor quality compared to their price, but they also pose potential health and safety risks for children,” the Customs Department said.
The operation is part of an ongoing effort to combat the sale of counterfeit goods in the local market. Customs officials conduct targeted inspections at the import stage, as well as surprise checks at shops and warehouses suspected of selling knockoff items.
