Airport fire injures 10 as it rapidly spreads in Santa Ana mountains

At least four wildfires are burning within 100 miles of Los Angeles, prompting evacuations and complicating firefighting efforts due to extreme heat and strong winds.

As reported by Los Angeles Times, the Bridge fire, which ignited Sunday in the Angeles National Forest northeast of Glendora, has quickly spread, forcing mandatory evacuations in Wrightwood and Palmdale. Officials are particularly concerned about Mount Baldy Village and Upland, which are under evacuation warnings. Flames were visible near Mountain High Resort, with live footage showing the fire consuming a ski lift area.

The Airport fire, sparked by heavy equipment, began Monday in Trabuco Canyon and has spread rapidly up the Santa Ana Mountains. Eight firefighters and two civilians have been hospitalized due to injuries sustained.

The Line fire started Thursday in San Bernardino County, burning 36,481 acres and injuring three firefighters. The blaze is moving through steep, difficult terrain near Big Bear, threatening 65,600 structures.

The Joshua fire began Wednesday morning near Palmdale, burning 30 acres along Mt. Emma Road at the edge of the Angeles National Forest.

Firefighters are struggling against severe conditions, with evacuations in place and containment efforts still underway.
