Press Release
The Green Agenda Cyprus Summit, the largest sustainable development conference, returns to Nicosia on June 4, 2026, under the central theme “Transition as a responsibility (not a trend),” bringing to the stage leading figures from the fields of sustainability and innovation.
Among this year’s speakers are George Papathanasiou, Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Michalis Sofocleous, an energy expert, and George Petrou, Chairman of the Cyprus Electricity Authority (EAC).
Professor Andreas Poullikkas, George Papathanasiou, Michalis Sophocleous and George Petrou will take part in a fireside chat on the future of energy in Cyprus, discussed in simple, practical terms. At the Green Agenda Cyprus Summit, they are expected to examine what really drives electricity costs, how quickly renewable energy sources can realistically replace more expensive fuels, and whether Cyprus can avoid a situation where “clean energy” ends up meaning “expensive energy” for households and businesses.
At the heart of the discussion is a simple but crucial question: can Cyprus ultimately achieve cleaner energy without making everyday life more expensive for the average family?
The Green Agenda Cyprus Summit is presented by Altia.
Major sponsors: Alpha Bank and Eurobank.
Supporters: EY, Invest Cyprus, CYTA, EAC, Cyfield, LLPO, University of Limassol, Sklavenitis.
