Happy Green Monday to everyone starting the 48-day countdown to Easter! Whether you’re heading to a grassy field, the seaside, or just setting up a spread on your balcony, today is all about family, flying kites, and embracing the world of shellfish and beans. It’s officially time to trade the souvla for some octopus and see who can get their kite the highest. Just remember to look up every once in a while so you don't get tangled in a neighbor's string.
As for the weather, Mother Nature is being a bit "low-pressure" today. We’re starting with some shy clouds and maybe a stray shower in the west and north. As the day goes on, it’ll get a bit moodier, with local showers and the odd thunderstorm likely popping up inland, in the mountains, and across the south. If you’re picnicking in the high Troodos peaks, keep an eye out for a bit of snow or sleet, very festive, if a bit chilly.
The wind will stay on its best behavior at a light to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort, which is actually pretty decent for kite flying if you’ve got a good tail on yours. Temperatures are keeping it cool and crisp, reaching 14°C inland and a slightly warmer 16°C on the coast. Once the sun goes down and the last piece of lagana is eaten, the sky will clear up, leaving us with a calm and quiet night.
Looking at the rest of the week, Tuesday through Thursday will keep us on our toes with a few "maybe" showers and some passing clouds. Temperatures will tease us with a slight rise until Wednesday before dropping back down on Thursday. So, enjoy your outdoor feast while you can and may your kite fly higher than the clouds!
