A wave of hot air continues to blanket the region, pushing temperatures to peak levels.
Today, after some early morning fog and low clouds clear out, skies will turn mostly sunny. As the day progresses, expect some cloud build-up, especially over mountainous areas, where a few isolated showers might pop up. Winds will start off light and variable, around 3 Beaufort, shifting later to a light to moderate southwesterly to northwesterly breeze at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will remain calm to slightly choppy. Temperatures will soar to 39°C inland, with highs of around 33°C along the southern and eastern coasts, and about 30°C on the western and northern shores as well as in the mountains.
Tonight, conditions will stay mostly clear, though some light fog or low clouds could form in spots. Winds will remain light and variable, mostly from the southwest to northwest at around 3 Beaufort. The sea will stay calm to slightly rough. Overnight lows will dip to around 20°C inland and along the coast, and 19°C in the mountains.
Looking ahead to Friday and the weekend, sunny weather will continue, though some cloudiness is likely to build around midday and into the afternoon, again bringing the chance of a few mountain showers. Light fog or low clouds may return overnight and in the early morning hours.
Friday will bring little change in temperature, but a gradual cooldown is expected through the weekend. By Sunday, conditions should feel more typical for this time of year, with temperatures returning closer to seasonal norms.
