The heatwave eases slightly today, with temperatures staying just under the 40-degree mark.
According to the Department of Meteorology, highs will reach 39 degrees Celsius in the interior, while the southeast, east, and northern coasts will see more comfortable temperatures around 33 degrees.
The west, southwest coasts, and higher elevations can expect a cooler 31 degrees.
Wednesday will bring similar conditions, with a slight dip in temperatures on Thursday, bringing them closer to the seasonal norm.
A low-pressure system and warm air mass are currently influencing the region. Today’s weather will be mostly clear. Winds will start out light and variable at 3 Beaufort, strengthening by the afternoon to moderate to strong, blowing from the southwest to northwest at 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly choppy in the morning, becoming a bit rougher by afternoon.
Tonight will be mostly clear with some low clouds. Winds will shift from southwest to northwest, staying light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, then turning northwest to northeast, easing to 3 Beaufort. The sea will remain slightly rough. Overnight, temperatures will drop to around 21 degrees inland, 23 degrees along the coast, and about 20 degrees in the higher mountains.
Wednesday’s weather will remain mostly clear, while Thursday and Friday could bring some increased cloud cover, with a chance of brief showers in the mountains during the afternoon.
Temperatures on Wednesday are expected to hold steady, with a slight decrease anticipated on Thursday, bringing them closer to the seasonal averages.
