Spanish authorities are reopening scrutiny of the death of Mango founder Isak Andic, which occurred in December 2024 and was initially attributed to an accident, as suspicions now point toward his son, Jonathan Andic.
The 71-year-old businessman reportedly died after falling while hiking with his family in Catalonia. At the time, police treated the incident as accidental. However, according to reports in El País, investigators are now examining the possibility of homicide. Jonathan Andic, who was reportedly alone with his father during the fall, gave testimony that investigators found inconsistent and suspicious, contradicting police findings and leaving key questions unanswered.
Professional golfer Estefania Knuth, Andic’s partner, told police that relations between father and son were strained, adding further context to the investigation. Sources cited by La Vanguardia indicate that Jonathan was reclassified from witness to suspect in September, and authorities are now reviewing data from his mobile phone.
The family has released a statement expressing confidence in a swift resolution and asserting their belief in Jonathan’s innocence.
Born in Istanbul, Isak Andic moved to Barcelona at 14 and went on to build Mango into one of the world’s largest ready-to-wear groups, with 2,800 stores globally. His sudden death shocked the fashion and business communities.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not released further details about potential charges.
