Isak Andic, the visionary behind global fashion brand Mango, tragically passed away at the age of 71 following an accident during a family excursion. Andic, who founded the company in 1984, died after falling around 500 feet while exploring a cave in the Montserrat mountain range near Barcelona.
Mango’s CEO, Toni Ruiz, confirmed the news and paid tribute to Andic, describing him as a guiding force whose vision and leadership shaped the company's success and culture. Under Andic’s direction, Mango grew into a €3.1 billion brand with a presence in over 120 countries, employing more than 15,000 people. His work expanded the company’s offerings to include menswear, womenswear, childrenswear, and home collections, establishing Mango as a global fashion leader.
Born in Istanbul in 1953, Andic moved to Barcelona in 1969. He started Mango with a single store on the famous Paseo de Gracia and expanded internationally by 1992. The company’s strong online presence now accounts for 80% of its revenue. Despite his passing, Andic’s legacy remains firmly intact, with Mango aiming for €4 billion in sales by 2026, backed by an ambitious expansion plan. His death has been deeply felt across the fashion industry, with tributes pouring in from leaders like Marta Ortega Perez of Inditex and Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
