As part of a collective initiative to support communities affected by this year’s wildfires, TechIsland has distributed 615 air purifiers to residents in fire-hit villages across Cyprus. The program, announced in July, is funded by contributions from over 60 companies and professionals in the tech sector, aimed at delivering immediate relief and supporting future fire-prevention efforts.

Deliveries were coordinated with local authorities and volunteers from the We Stand Together team, reaching villages including Agios Georgios, Malia, Lofou, Monagri, Souni, Agios Therapon, Vouni, and Silikou. Priority was given to families with children, elderly residents, and individuals with health conditions.

Valentinos Polycarpou, President of TechIsland and CEO of Wargaming, said, "From the very beginning, our goal has been to act quickly and provide meaningful support where it is most needed. Air purifiers cannot undo the damage caused by the fires, but they offer immediate assistance to the health of people living in affected areas. Beyond this immediate relief, TechIsland’s initiative is a long-term project, collaborating with experts and authorities to implement prevention, protection, and early warning measures for future fires."

Kyriakos Pafitis, Head of Cyprus Operations at GDEV, talked abou the sector’s solidarity. "This is not just immediate relief. It shows that the private sector stands with Cyprus, ready to support its people both in times of crisis and in building long-term resilience."

Oleg Grushevich, CEO and Co-Founder of Easybrain, added, "This initiative allows us to contribute to making Cyprus safer while supporting practical measures that improve daily life. We hope this collective effort provides immediate assistance and helps create a more sustainable Cyprus, better protected against future challenges."

TechIsland emphasized that this is only the first step in a broader program addressing the rising risk of wildfires. The organization is developing a long-term plan focused on prevention, monitoring, early warning, and ongoing support for affected communities, with more details to be announced in the coming weeks.
