Authorities in Nicosia have arrested two young men, aged 20 and 21, in connection with an online fraud scheme that targeted a local company, police said Monday. A third suspect, 22, remains at large as investigators continue their work.
The case dates back to mid-July 2025, when the director of a Nicosia-based company reported to the city’s Criminal Investigation Department that his firm had fallen victim to an online scam, losing €35,000.
Investigators quickly secured arrest warrants for two suspects, a 20-year-old and a 22-year-old. On January 1, 2026, the 20-year-old was taken into custody and appeared before the Nicosia District Court the same day, where an eight-day detention order was issued.
A judicial warrant was issued on January 2 for a 21-year-old suspect. Police arrested him on Sunday, and he is expected to appear in court today for a detention hearing.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing as they work to locate the third suspect and determine the full scope of the fraud.
