Water consumption across Cyprus continues to exceed the levels recorded during the same period in 2025, prompting renewed calls for residents to cut unnecessary use and make better use of available water-saving measures.
The Water Development Department said demand has remained consistently higher than last year, adding that every household can play a part in reducing pressure on the country's water supplies through more careful daily use.
As part of its conservation campaign, the Department is continuing to provide free water-saving kits to households. Around 35% of the planned allocation has already been distributed to consumers.
Residents who have collected the free faucet aerators and shower flow restrictors are being encouraged to install them as soon as possible. According to the Department, the devices can reduce household water consumption by as much as 30%.
Officials also pointed out that similar water-saving fittings are available commercially at relatively low prices for anyone who has not received the free equipment.
The Department stressed that technology alone will not solve the problem, saying that simple everyday actions such as avoiding unnecessary water use, fixing leaks quickly and using water responsibly are equally important in protecting Cyprus' limited water resources.
