The European Central Bank (ECB) has announced a 25 basis point reduction in interest rates, marking the fourth consecutive cut for 2024.
As a result, the rates for the deposit facility, main refinancing operations, and marginal lending facility will be lowered to 3.00%, 3.15%, and 3.40%, respectively, effective December 18, 2024.
In its inflation outlook, the ECB projects that, excluding energy and food, the average inflation rate will be 2.9% in 2024, 2.3% in 2025, and 1.9% in both 2026 and 2027.
