Harley-Davidson announced on Monday that it is ending its diversity and inclusion programs, joining other big U.S. companies like Tractor Supply Co. and John Deere that have done the same. The decision comes after pressure from conservative activist Robby Starbuck, who has been leading efforts to push companies away from these policies.

Harley-Davidson, based in Milwaukee, said it had already stopped its diversity efforts back in April and will no longer have hiring quotas or goals for working with diverse suppliers. The company also plans to review and possibly drop sponsorships, including those for LGBTQ+ Pride events, to focus more on promoting motorcycling. It will also end its relationship with the Human Rights Campaign, an LGBTQ+ advocacy group.

This move follows Starbuck’s social media campaign in July, where he criticized Harley-Davidson for its diversity initiatives. His posts gained attention from figures like Elon Musk, increasing the pressure on the company. Harley-Davidson emphasized that it is committed to listening to all its customers but declined to comment further. Similar to Harley-Davidson, Tractor Supply and John Deere have also recently backed away from their diversity policies after facing similar pressures.
