In a carefully coordinated operation overseen by the Larnaca Search and Rescue Coordination Center (KSΕD), a 62-year-old patient was safely transported to Paphos General Hospital on Tuesday afternoon. The patient had been aboard the passenger ship "Evrima," sailing under the flag of Malta, which was located 110 nautical miles west of Cyprus, within the Nicosia Flight Information Region (FIR) of the Republic of Cyprus.
The mission was executed with precision as a helicopter from the 460th Medical Evacuation Squadron (460ΜΕΔ) of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff was deployed for the purpose, complete with a specialized medical team from the Ambulance Service.
At 19:00 local time, the patient was successfully delivered to Paphos General Hospital, ensuring her safe and timely access to medical care. This incident highlights the importance of efficient search and rescue operations in safeguarding lives at sea.
