Press Release

"BATTLEFIELD ReDEFiNED 2026", the largest defence and security conference and exhibition in Cyprus, has successfully concluded.

The event took place from February 26-27 at the Pavilion Hall in Nicosia and was organized by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the Cyprus Association of Research and Innovation Enterprises (CARIE), and C.D Multimedia Services Ltd. The event was held under the auspices of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus. It was supported by the Cyprus Police and other bodies, while the conference segment of the event was implemented in collaboration with the European Commission's Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DG-DEFIS / ENDR).

Within the framework of the conference, presentations and special sessions were held featuring representatives from official bodies of the Republic of Cyprus and the European Union, as well as companies from the domestic, Greek, and international defense industries.

At the opening of the conference, an address was delivered by the President of the Republic, Nicos Christodoulides. Other notable attendees included the Minister of Defence, Vasilis Palmas; the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Constantinos Fytiris; the Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Emmanouil Theodorou; the Deputy Chief of the National Guard, Major General Neophytos Pachoulides; and the Deputy Chief of the Cyprus Police, Panikos Stavrou.

Thirty-five companies and entities from Cyprus, Greece, and other European countries participated, with over 500 delegates in attendance from official state bodies, the National Guard, the Security Forces, and private sector entities operating within the defense industry sector.

The themes focused on during this year's conference included, among others, the Defense Industry Strategy of Cyprus, the financial tools offered by the EU for the defense reinforcement of member states, the use of new technologies on the modern battlefield, and lessons learned from recent conflicts.

The exhibition segment of the event was open to the general public for the first time. Visitors had the opportunity to see up close defense and dual-use systems developed by participating companies, as well as systems utilized by the National Guard, the Cyprus Police, and the Security Forces.

During the conference, agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed, including a strategic cooperation agreement between Hellas Sat, the French Space Agency (CNES), Thales Alenia Space, and Safran Data Systems, for the development of an optical communications system for the future Hellas Sat 5 satellite.

The successful completion of BATTLEFIELD ReDEFiNED 2026 serves as a milestone for the development of Cyprus's domestic defense and security ecosystem.
