The five suspects accused in the killing of 30-year-old Victory Osarumen Thompson were remanded this week, as investigators continue to piece together what happened inside the Limassol apartment where he was found dead earlier this month.
Police say the group, two 24-year-old women, along with a 30-year-old, 31-year-old, and 35-year-old, all Nigerian nationals, will remain in custody as they await trial on charges that include premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Thompson was discovered in the early hours of Nov. 9, after what police describe as a violent altercation. According to investigators, the suspects had returned home from a night out and claimed Thompson was in an “agitated and aggressive” state, possibly under the influence of drugs. They told police they tried to restrain her after she allegedly attacked one of the 24-year-old women, a struggle that escalated into a deadly beating with a broomstick.
But officers say the evidence collected so far suggests a far more deliberate assault, prompting prosecutors to push for the most serious charges.
The case was already referred to the Limassol Criminal Court, with the trial set to begin January 21, 2026. Meanwhile, the judges agreed to hold the suspects in custody after reviewing the police file, citing concerns over the “gravity of the offenses” and the risk of flight.
Investigators are continuing forensic tests and witness interviews as they try to clarify the timeline of events inside the flat that night. Police sources say they are examining whether the suspects’ accounts align with the injuries found on the victim and the evidence recovered at the scene.
Authorities are expected to submit additional material to the court in the coming weeks.
