The final phase of the "IRIS - 2024" exercise, part of the Transatlantic Tactical Post-Troop Exercise (TAMS), took place in Kalo Chorio with the notable participation of two F-16 fighter aircraft from the Hellenic Air Force. This marks their first involvement since 2019.

The exercise included simulated bombing runs on ground targets and involved a range of operational scenarios, emphasizing night fighting capabilities.

Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas, Chief of the General Staff, addressed the importance of the National Guard’s readiness to confront threats while strengthening regional defense cooperation. He stated, "The successful conduct of the exercise confirmed our operational readiness and the high training level of our personnel."

Over the course of the exercise, which ran from October 8 to 10, various military formations engaged in defensive and offensive operations, including air and maritime scenarios to counter both conventional and asymmetric threats. The exercises were designed to enhance interoperability with allied forces and improve operational capabilities.

Lt. Gen. Tsitsikostas commended the collaboration with the Samos TDF Team from Greece and highlighted ongoing efforts to maintain high readiness levels within the National Guard. He expressed gratitude to all participants, including defense attaches and representatives from friendly nations, reinforcing the necessity of unity and collective action in the face of increasing security challenges in the region.

The exercise concluded successfully, reflecting the National Guard's commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and beyond.
