Cyprus cracks down as 233 illegal residents repatriated last Saturday

Police intensify efforts with FRONTEX returns, totaling 8,618 repatriations in 2023

A total of 233 persons who resided illegally in Cyprus, departed the country within a week (18-25/11/2023), as part of Police efforts for the return of third-country nationals to their countries of origin.

A police press release said that in addition, ten persons who were illegally in Cyprus left on Saturday in the context of a FRONTEX forced return procedure. It is noted that this is the 13th participation of the Cyprus Police in such operations, while Cyprus is expected to participate in two more operations by the end of the year.

Since the beginning of 2023, a total of 8,618 persons who resided illegally in Cyprus have been repatriated to their countries of origin.

The efforts of the Police and the Aliens and Immigration Unit, to maximize the number of returns, continue, the press release concluded
