Cyprus, Greece, France and Italy conduct aeronautical exercise off Limassol

The planning and coordination of the exercise was carried out by the Cyprus army in collaboration with the Staffs of the three countries

An aeronautical exercise with the participation of units of the Republic of Cyprus, Greece, France and Italy was carried out on Wednesday in the maritime area south of Limassol, in the context of the Defence and Security Cooperation of the four countries.

As announced by the Ministry of Defence, the aeronautical exercise was attended by frigate ‘KANARIS’ of the Greek Navy, French frigate ‘ACONIT’ along with its helicopter and Italian frigate ‘ALPINO’ with its helicopter.

Cyprus included its fast patrol ships ‘TSOMAKIS’, ‘GEORGIOU’, ‘AMMOCHOSTOS’, the open sea ship ‘IOANNIDIS’, two helicopters of Cyprus army and police force, and the ship ‘Thiseas’ of the local naval police.

The planning and coordination of the exercise was carried out by the Cyprus army in collaboration with the Staffs of the three countries. In addition, the above units participated in a Search and Rescue scenario under the Research and Rescue Coordination Center of the Republic of Cyprus.
