Very strong winds from the west are expected on Tuesday afternoon, with showers and thunderstorms throughout the day as well as chances of snow and hail.
Weather officials say winds on Tuesday will range from strong to very strong in the early part of the afternoon, while gusty winds are also expected later with a westerly direction. Snow is also expected in the mountains while there are increasing chances of hailstorms during severe stormy weather.
According to the weather service director, Kleanthis Nicolaides, westerly winds were already affecting the area out west, especially near Pigenia and Akamas, where they reached 7 points on the Beaufort scale.
A cold snap is affecting all areas in Cyprus this week, with temperatures dropping noticeably until Thursday. A slight increase later in the week is expected while temperatures will remain below normal averages for this time of the year.
