Cyprus is gaining international recognition as a vital hub for humanitarian and medical aid in the fight against childhood cancer, according to the Elpida Foundation. The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially acknowledged Cyprus’ leadership in this field, praising its contributions and reinforcing its global reputation.
Cyprus will host an International Conference on Childhood and Adolescent Cancer on February 13-14, bringing together world-renowned experts, major organizations, and government representatives. Organized by the Elpida Foundation in collaboration with WHO and leading medical institutions, the event aims to tackle global inequalities in cancer treatment.
Professor Loizos C. Loizou highlighted Cyprus' success in improving cancer cure rates since 1989 and envisions the island as a premier center for medical innovation and humanitarian aid for children with cancer worldwide.
WHO also emphasized Cyprus' strategic position and rich intercultural history, making it an ideal bridge between countries and cultures in advancing global health. With 40 top experts from 27 countries and high-level government participation, Cyprus is proving itself as a key player in the fight against childhood cancer.
