Data released by Eurostat shows that Cyprus saw just over 3.1 million overnight stays in short-term rental properties during the third quarter of 2025, covering the peak summer months from July through September. These figures reflect bookings made through major online platforms.
Looking at the European picture, demand for short-term rentals continued to climb. In the final quarter of 2025 (October to December), travelers across the European Union logged 172.3 million nights in accommodations reserved via platforms such as Airbnb, Booking, and Expedia. This represents a notable rise of 10.9% compared with the same period in 2024, and a much larger increase of 30.2% relative to 2023.
For the full year, total overnight stays in EU short-term rentals reached 951.6 million in 2025. This marks year-on-year growth of 11.4% compared with 2024 and a jump of 32.4% compared with 2023, underscoring the continued expansion of the sector.
Eurostat notes that these figures are compiled from monthly data tracking accommodation offered through online booking platforms.
At a regional level, Croatia’s Jadranska Hrvatska emerged as the most visited destination in the third quarter of 2025, with 27.7 million overnight stays. Spain’s Andalucía followed with 19.5 million, while France’s Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur recorded 16.9 million.
In total, the top 20 regions for short-term rental stays during this period were concentrated in just six EU countries: France (six regions), Spain (five), Italy (four), Greece (three), and one region each in Portugal and Croatia.
