A drunk driver allegedly more than four times over the legal alcohol limit caused a chain-reaction crash in Limassol in the early hours of Monday morning, damaging multiple vehicles and ending his journey against an electricity pole.
The incident happened around 06:20 on Christodoulou Hatzipavlou Street, a well-known coastal road in the city often busy with morning commuters and early workers heading to start their day.

According to police, the 38-year-old driver first collided with a vehicle ahead of him under circumstances still being investigated. That impact triggered a domino effect, with the second vehicle pushed into three parked cars along the street.
Instead of stopping, the driver allegedly continued for a short distance before losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a pole. The car eventually came to a halt after striking an electricity pole.
Police said the driver was later subjected to an alcohol test, which showed a reading of 97 micrograms, significantly above the legal limit of 22.
He was arrested on flagrant offenses and is expected to face court proceedings on Tuesday.
While no serious injuries were reported, the early-morning scene left behind damaged vehicles and a familiar reminder for many drivers in Cyprus: how quickly one irresponsible decision can turn an ordinary commute into a dangerous situation.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the exact circumstances of the collision.
