Heat cranks up to 38°c as mountains tease with surprise showers

Sun blazes and clouds plot in the hills, a classic summer mix.

Break out the sunscreen and maybe keep an umbrella handy, just in case. Today’s weather is coming in hot, with clear skies taking center stage. Around midday, clouds will start poking their heads out, especially over the mountains, bringing the chance of a spontaneous shower or a dramatic little thunderstorm. Nature seems to enjoy plot twists.

Winds will swirl from the southwest to the northwest, generally light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. Along the southern coast, they’ll kick up a notch, reaching 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough, offering a little extra bounce for boats and beachgoers.

Temperatures will be blazing inland at 38°C, with coastal areas offering slight relief; 34°C on the southern and eastern shores, 32°C on the western and northern sides. Higher up in the mountains, a cooler 29°C will offer a modest escape from the heat.

As night rolls in, the skies will stay mostly clear, though a few low clouds or patches of fog may quietly drift in. Winds will shift from the northwest to the northeast, remaining calm to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea stays slightly rough. Temperatures will ease down to 24°C inland and along the coast, and 18°C up in the mountains.

Looking ahead:

Thursday: Sunny skies continue, though midday clouds may gather over the mountains.

Friday and Saturday: Sunshine dominates with no major surprises.

Temperatures: Holding steady, staying a touch above seasonal norms, enough heat to feel like summer, without veering into meltdown territory.

Keep cool, keep cheerful, and let summer do its thing.
