Hungary's Foreign Affairs Minister to visit Cyprus

Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, begins a working visit to Cyprus on Tuesday 2 April 2024, following an invitation by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantinos Kombos.

A Cyprus Foreign Ministry press release said in the framework of the visit, the two Ministers will have a tête-à-tête meeting, followed by consultations in extended format with the participation of delegations from the two Ministries. Statements to the press will take place at the end of the consultations. Following the official consultations, the Ministers will attend the inauguration ceremony of the premises of the Embassy of Hungary in Nicosia.

Discussions will focus on, among others, bilateral relations between Cyprus and Hungary, the Cyprus Question, as well as the upcoming Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2024. The Ministers will also exchange views on current international issues, focusing on the situation in the Middle East and Ukraine.

During his visit to Cyprus, Szijjártó will be received by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides.
