Newsroom
Good morning and welcome to a new week (and a new month). A low-pressure system has decided to join us for the Monday morning meeting, bringing a bit of everything: clouds, rain, and unfortunately, more dust that will hang around until tomorrow evening. It’s a messy start, but the good news is that this system is just a temporary visitor.
Today kicks off with increased clouds and some isolated showers, mostly if you are in the west. But as the day goes on, the weather will commit to the gloom, becoming mainly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms.
The real headline today, however, is the wind. It starts off manageable, but by the afternoon, the southern and northern coasts will be battered by very strong (5 to 6 Beaufort) gusts from the southwest. The sea will respond by turning rough, so keep a safe distance from the water's edge.
Despite the bluster, it’s surprisingly mild for early February. Temperatures are climbing to 19°C inland and on the west/north coasts, and a warm 21°C on the remaining coasts. The mountains are sitting at 9°C.
Tonight, the unsettled mood continues. Expect intermittent clouds and local showers, with thunderstorms likely targeting the coastal areas. The sea will remain angry, becoming rough to locally very rough, while winds on windward coasts will keep gusting up to 5 Beaufort.
The outlook
Tuesday: We start with a hangover from today, with isolated showers in the west and north of Troodos. However, by midday, the clouds will break, and the skies will clear up nicely.
Wednesday: The pick of the week. Expect mainly clear skies and sunshine.
Thursday: The clouds return (medium and high level), but it should stay dry.
Temperature trend: Expect a slight drop tomorrow, but generally, we are staying slightly warmer than the seasonal average.
So, hold onto your hats (literally), ignore the dust on the dashboard, and let's surf, or stumble, into the week.
