Cyprus’ Health Minister, Neophytos Charalambidis, has called on stakeholders in the private healthcare sector to submit proposals within one week addressing the ongoing shortage of nurses in private hospitals. A follow-up meeting is scheduled in one month to review progress and explore potential solutions.
According to the Ministry of Health, the minister held an initial meeting with representatives from affected institutions on Wednesday to hear their perspectives. He emphasized the need for concrete recommendations on how to tackle the staffing gaps in the nursing workforce.
After gathering and evaluating input from all parties, the Ministry plans to convene another session in 30 days. The discussion will focus on identifying short-term, medium-term, and long-term strategies to ensure adequate nursing staff levels in private hospitals.
The move reflects growing concerns about understaffing in the sector, which has raised operational challenges for private healthcare facilities across Cyprus.
