Authorities are investigating a suspected double homicide after the discovery of two charred bodies in a burned vehicle in the Lisovouno area of Limassol. Police have launched a premeditated murder investigation following autopsy results.
According to police, the victims were shot with a hunting rifle before being burned. Investigators have collected various pieces of evidence from the scene to trace the perpetrators.
There is speculation that the murders may have occurred at a different location and the bodies were transported to Lisovouno, where the vehicle, an Opel Astra, was set ablaze. One body was found in the passenger seat, and the other in the back seat. The fire completely destroyed the car, complicating the investigation as the perpetrators intended to eliminate all traces of evidence.
The identification of the victims will be conducted through DNA analysis, which is expected to provide crucial leads for the investigation. Police spokesperson Christos Andreou mentioned on state radio that they are examining a report of a missing person to determine any possible connection to the victims. “Examinations are being conducted to ascertain if this individual is related to the two bodies,” Andreou said.
The official autopsy, conducted by forensic pathologist Nikolaos Charalambous, revealed that the victims died from gunshot-induced cranio-cerebral trauma.
