The discovery of two charred bodies in a burnt car in the area of Lystovouno, Limassol district, has left authorities grappling for answers as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the mysterious incident. The bodies, both identified as male, were found after midnight on a dirt road between Kellaki and Parekklisia.
Investigators hope that the autopsy, scheduled for noon on Wednesday, July 31, will provide crucial information regarding the identities and cause of death of the two individuals. Limassol Police Director Andreas Angelides stated, "Ten minutes after midnight, the police were informed of a car fire in this area. The Fire Service was immediately dispatched to extinguish the fire, and members of the Limassol CID were also notified and arrived at the scene."
Initial examinations have ruled out the possibility of a hit-and-run accident, leading authorities to consider all potential scenarios, including a criminal act. The vehicle, a saloon car, showed no evidence of a collision, further complicating the investigation.
"From the initial examinations, it was found that inside the particular car, there were two charred bodies. Immediately, an investigation was launched by the CID regarding the circumstances of the incident," Angelides noted. He added that all police stations have been alerted to report any missing persons that might be linked to the case.
The incident has garnered significant attention, with authorities urging the public to come forward with any information that might aid in identifying the victims or shedding light on the events leading up to the fire.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities remain committed to uncovering the truth behind this tragic incident. Further updates are expected following the necropsy results and additional forensic examinations.
