Nicosia municipality embraces digital era, ends cheque payments

Residents urged to use electronic and card-based methods for all transactions

Newsroom

In a significant shift towards modernization, the Nicosia Municipality announced it will no longer accept cheque payments, urging residents to transition to electronic and card-based payment methods. This move, aimed at streamlining financial transactions, marks the beginning of a new era in municipal services.

Starting immediately, payments can only be made electronically through JCC Smart, via the e-lefkosia portal at www.nicosiamunicipality.org.cy, by direct bank transfer, or in person using cash, credit, or debit cards at the Municipality's cash desks located at 13 Old Electric Street. Payments are also accepted at the Citizen Service Centres, with cash payments accepted until August 30. The new payment hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

The Municipality encourages all residents to embrace these digital options, reflecting a broader effort to enhance efficiency and convenience in public service transactions.
