Seasonal low pressure and a hot air mass continue to influence the region.
Today, the weather will be mostly clear, though coastal areas may experience periods of increased low cloud cover in the morning and afternoon. In the mountains, cloud development around midday could lead to isolated showers. Winds will initially blow from the northeast to southeast, and locally from the southwest, at 3 Beaufort. By noon, winds will shift mainly to the southwest to northwest, ranging from 3 to 4 Beaufort, with temporary gusts up to 5 Beaufort along the southern coast. The sea will generally be calm to slightly rough, particularly in the afternoon in southern and southwestern areas. Temperatures will rise to around 41°C inland, 33°C on the west and southwest coasts, 36°C on other coastal areas, and 32°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight, the weather will remain mostly clear, with increased low cloud cover expected along the western and northern coasts. Later in the night and into the early morning, patchy fog may form in some inland and southeastern areas. Winds will initially be southwesterly to northwesterly at 3 Beaufort, later becoming katabatic of the same strength. The sea will be calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 24°C on the west and southwest coasts, 25°C inland and on other coasts, and 21°C in the higher mountains.
On Wednesday, most of the island will experience clear skies with occasional cloud cover. However, in the mountains, clouds developing around midday could produce isolated showers, with the possibility of a brief thunderstorm. Thursday is expected to bring similar weather, with mostly clear skies and some local cloud cover. Isolated rain may occur in the mountains during the midday and afternoon. Friday’s forecast is for mostly clear skies with some local cloudiness.
Temperatures will remain above seasonal averages through Friday, with no significant changes expected.
