The medal for the upcoming "Run For Autism Half Marathon," scheduled for Sunday, April 6, was unveiled at a press conference in Ayia Napa on March 18. Designed by year 6 students in the St'32 class of Peace and Freedom High School in Deryneia-Sotira, the medal features puzzle pieces, the global symbol for autism. Key elements include a depiction of Ayia Napa’s Church, waves representing the starting point of the race, a central runner figure, and the Ayia Napa marina. A dove at the top represents the school’s emblem, symbolizing equality and prosperity for all.

Louis Loizou, volunteer coordinator of the event, expressed gratitude to the Ayia Napa marina and Municipality for their ongoing support, emphasizing the involvement of students in the medal design. "The children understood the efforts of the Famagusta Autism Support Association, creating a medal that brings businesses, volunteers, and the community together," Loizou said.

This year also introduces the Blue Sprint drink, a special mocktail created by InterNapa College students to raise awareness about autism. Proceeds from sales of the drink, priced at two euros, will benefit the Famagusta Autism Support Association.

Ayia Napa Mayor Christos Zannetou reaffirmed the Municipality's commitment to the event and highlighted efforts to establish a model Autism Center in the area.

Trish Browne, major sponsor and volunteer, shared her pride in supporting the event and reflected on its growth since its inception in 2019.

Andriana Yassemi, a student representative, spoke about the group's enthusiasm for designing the medal, noting the meaningful connection between the race and supporting children with autism.

This year’s race and medal not only celebrate athleticism but also raise vital awareness and support for autism.
