Newsroom
We hope you enjoyed yesterday’s crystal-clear, "I can see forever" vibes, because the atmosphere is already planning its next move.
While weak high pressure is still technically in charge this morning, it’s packing its bags. A low-pressure system is sliding in for tomorrow, and the spoiler alert is that it’s bringing our old friend dust back for a Friday reunion. So, today is your lovely in-between.
Today starts off deceptively innocent with mostly clear skies. However, as the day progresses, the clouds will roll in, turning the sky partly to mainly cloudy. It’s a "layering" kind of day.
The wind is also waking up. Blowing from the northeast to southeast, it will be breezy generally (3 to 4 Beaufort), but if you are in a windward area, expect it to get gusty (up to 5 Beaufort).
Temperature-wise, it feels more like spring than early February. We are looking at a mild 18°C inland and west, and 19°C on the other coasts. But the real surprise is the mountains; highs of 12°C mean it’s positively balmy up there (though not great news for the snowpack).
Tonight, the blanket of clouds thickens. We are looking at mainly mid-to-high-level clouds, which might squeeze out some isolated light rain. The breeze stays active, so secure anything lightweight on the balcony.
The outlook
Friday (tomorrow): The "clean" streak ends. Dust returns to the atmosphere, mixing with local rain and isolated thunderstorms. You know the drill: if it rains dust, it rains mud.
Saturday: The unsettled weather sticks around for the first half of the day with rain and possible thunder. However, a noticeable improvement kicks in by the afternoon.
Sunday: The week ends on a high note. Generally mostly clear skies return, and temperatures will rise even further, pushing well above seasonal averages.
