A woman was rescued Saturday afternoon from the Sea Caves area in Famagusta by crews from the Famagusta Fire Station, according to the Cyprus Fire Service.
The rescue operation was launched after authorities received a call reporting a person in distress in the coastal area, which is known for its rocky terrain and limited accessibility.
Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis said in a post on X that firefighters managed to reach the woman and, in coordination with personnel from the Ambulance Service, placed her onto a special rescue stretcher designed for use in difficult environments.
Using specialized equipment, the woman was carefully lifted from the rocky area up to the road, where an ambulance was waiting. She was then transported to the Emergency Department of Famagusta General Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
The circumstances that led to the incident were not immediately clear. No further information about the woman's condition or identity was released.
The Sea Caves area is a popular but potentially hazardous coastal site, often attracting visitors for sightseeing and photography. Authorities have previously urged caution when approaching the area due to the uneven surfaces and strong waves in some sections.
