The Bank of Cyprus is setting up a special “India Hub” to help Indian businesses work with the bank and explore opportunities in Cyprus and Europe.
The unit, run by Marios Christoforidis, already manages about 100 companies with €50 million in yearly transactions. The goal is to grow that number and make Indian entrepreneurs a bigger part of the bank’s business.
Christoforidis said 2026 will be a big year for Cyprus-India business, with planned visits, meetings, and trade initiatives. In early December, a trade delegation from Mumbai is expected in Nicosia to meet local businesses.
The Hub offers services like multi-currency accounts, international payments, trade transactions, currency exchange in more than 45 currencies, deposit products, and private banking. At first, it will focus on current clients with Indian connections, then expand to attract new companies directly from India.
The bank says the 'Hub' can also help large Indian businesses thinking about moving part of their operations to Cyprus, presenting the country as a safe and convenient gateway into Europe.
Christoforidis added that other markets are showing interest too, including the USA, Canada, Germany, Poland, Israel, Lebanon, and Egypt.
