President Nikos Christodoulides unveiled more than 80 projects valued at over €1 billion aimed at transforming Nicosia and its surrounding suburbs during an event Monday at the Nicosia Municipal Theater.
The initiatives cover a wide array of sectors including social welfare, health, education, urban redevelopment, transportation, culture, and housing. Key projects include construction of specialized health centers such as a pediatric oncology clinic and a rare diseases center; major infrastructure upgrades including the Nicosia Ring Road and new highways; and a new Cyprus Archaeological Museum scheduled for completion in 2028.
The President emphasized efforts to improve social cohesion and decentralize governance, noting Nicosia’s unique challenges as Europe’s last divided capital. He called for strong cooperation between government, local authorities, and civil society to implement the ambitious plan designed to enhance residents’ daily lives and promote sustainable urban growth.
