In Cyprus, pension amounts vary significantly depending on the type of pension and whether the recipient has dependents. According to the Social Insurance Services, the highest pension paid in 2024 exceeded €3,000, specifically €3,049, and applied to retirees with dependent family members.
For specific types of pensions, the largest widow(er)’s pension with dependents reached €2,022, while the highest pension for a person with full (100%) disability and dependents was €2,541. In comparison, a person with 100% disability but no dependents received a maximum of €1,900.
Lowest pension levels
At the lower end of the spectrum, pensions without dependents start at €435.62. With one dependent, the minimum rises to €580.83; with two dependents, €653.43; and with three dependents, €726.04.
Pension increases over time
Examining changes from 2019 to 2025 shows that pension growth has been gradual. For retirees without dependents, the minimum pension rose from €357.22 in 2019 to €435.62 in 2025, while the basic pension increased from €420.26 to €512.50 over the same period, less than a €100 increase in six years.
For those with one dependent, the minimum pension grew from €476.30 to €580.83, and the basic pension from €560.35 to €683.33. With two dependents, minimum pensions increased from €535.84 to €653.43, and basic pensions from €630.40 to €768.74. Finally, retirees with three dependents saw the minimum pension rise from €595.37 to €726.04, and the basic pension from €700.44 to €854.16.
