This year’s Sustainable Development Conference aims to support and enhance Cyprus’s national strategy for the Green Transition. The ultimate goal is for Cyprus to become a model of environmental awareness and sustainable growth, contributing actively to a greener and more eco-friendly future.
Joining this collective effort are key speakers who will share their insights at the conference: Andreas Neocleous, Omiros Pissarides, Irini Chatzisavva, and Marios Tannousis.
Andreas Neocleous will take part in the panel discussion titled “Green Transition or Greenwashing? The Top CEO’s Take.”
Neocleous is the CEO of Cyta, a role he has held since 2019. Under his leadership, the organization redefined its vision and pursued a dynamic growth path, leading to significant increases in revenue and profitability. He successfully guided Cyta through the COVID-19 pandemic while supporting households, businesses, and government services. During the same period, he secured a historic agreement to broadcast all Cyprus football matches across every TV platform on the island. His prior experience includes roles as director of business and customer service at MTN Cyprus, commercial director at Ericsson, and senior technology analyst at Goldman Sachs in London and New York. He holds a PhD in Telecommunications and Digital Signal Processing and a master’s in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London. Neocleous is a proven leader known for inspiring people to go beyond their comfort zones and for successfully managing business transformation across sectors and global markets.
Omiros Pissarides will join the panel titled “Green Transition, Funding and Risk Management.”
Pissarides is the founder and partner at Ominthia Capital, a specialized consultancy providing financial services to select clients. With a career spanning finance and IT, he has held senior positions at multinationals such as PwC, AXIA, and Intermec Technologies. He has advised on strategic initiatives involving acquisitions, mergers, divestitures, joint ventures, and corporate restructuring, overseeing transactions worth over €10 billion. He also serves on boards of both corporate and non-profit organizations and is a member of Cyprus’s Council of Economy and Competitiveness. Since 2020, he has been a regular commentator on economic trends, particularly in emerging and developing markets. He holds a degree in economics and accounting and an MBA and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.
Eirini Hadjisavva will speak on the panel “Cities on the Grill: How to Manage Temperature.”
Hadjisavva is a senior officer at the Department of Town Planning and Housing. She studied architecture and urban/spatial planning and holds master’s degrees in Business Administration (MBA) and Public Administration (MPA). With 18 years of experience in protecting architectural heritage, she has led the Spatial Planning Branch since 2019, overseeing urban and architectural policy with a focus on sustainability. She actively participates in national and European committees and working groups on spatial governance and cultural heritage, representing both her department and the Republic of Cyprus. Her work includes the design and implementation of administrative and planning reforms, and she is also in charge of Recovery and Resilience Fund projects within the department.
Marios Tannousis will also speak on the “Green Transition, Funding and Risk Management” panel.
Tannousis is the CEO of Invest Cyprus and brings over 25 years of international business experience, including 12 years in global banking and finance at Societe Generale. He is on the boards of EFAMA (European Fund and Asset Management Association) and the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA) and has served on several other boards. Tannousis holds a degree in economics from Rutgers University (USA) and an MBA from Mankato State University (USA). He has also completed FinTech and Transformational Leadership programs at Oxford and Cambridge. Certified to offer investment services, he is passionate about driving economic development through investments, particularly in the banking, financial services, fintech, and investment fund sectors. He regularly represents Cyprus at international and European conferences.
