Cyprus police mounts road safety campaign to crack down on speed violators
Newsroom
Traffic police are cracking down on speeding this week, as part of an island-wide road safety campaign through Sunday.
More officers have been on the road since Monday and will continue to make their presence known to remind drivers to slow down and help prevent serious or fatal accidents.
A number of accidents, including fatal collisions over the last few weeks, were linked to speeding and other traffic violations, prompting officials to issue warnings to the public.
Cyprus and member states of the European Union are all facing road safety challenges with speeding being a main concern.
The current campaign will last through June 17.
