European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced a substantial €1 billion support package for Lebanon, emphasizing the European Union's enduring commitment to assist the country and its people.
President von der Leyen, accompanied by President Nicos Christodoulides, convened with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati during a visit to Beirut. The discussions, encompassing a private trilateral meeting and broader talks among delegations, centered on addressing Lebanon's multifaceted challenges, including regional dynamics, effective migration management, and the imperative implementation of reforms to foster stability and prosperity.

Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letibiotis affirmed that the primary aim of the visit was to extend political and economic support to Lebanon from the EU, underscoring the significance of collaborative efforts in navigating the country's complex landscape. Additionally, President von der Leyen and President Christodoulides are scheduled to meet with Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nahib Berri to further engage in dialogue regarding Lebanon's future trajectory and the reinforcement of bilateral cooperation initiatives.
