Police in Paphos are investigating what appears to be a deliberate arson attack after four ambulances parked outside a clinic in Geroskipou were set on fire overnight.
The blaze broke out around 1 a.m. Sunday, sending emergency crews rushing to the scene as the ambulances burned side by side in the clinic’s parking area.
Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames before they spread further, but the vehicles suffered heavy damage, especially to their front sections. The full extent of the destruction has not yet been calculated.
Authorities said early findings point clearly to foul play.
According to police spokesperson Kyriakos Theodorou, investigators from the Paphos CID and the Fire Service determined that the fire had been deliberately set using flammable materials.
Several items were collected from the scene and will undergo scientific testing as investigators work to identify those responsible.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear.
The incident has sparked concern locally, with many questioning why emergency response vehicles, meant to save lives, would be targeted.
Police said investigations are ongoing.
